Local Levels Restricted from Hiring Temporary and Contract Staff
Local levels will no longer be allowed to hire temporary or contract employees beyond the approved organizational positions. However, this provision will not apply to teachers.
On Friday, the Education and Human Resource Development Center under the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology issued a notice clarifying that this rule does not affect teacher appointments.
The notice states:
Notices“Regarding this matter, as per Clause (j) under organizational structure reform mentioned in Point No. 5 of the Ministry of Finance’s press release dated 2082/06/07 on reducing unproductive expenses and ensuring austerity, it has been mentioned that temporary and contract employees cannot be hired in the Government of Nepal, provinces, and local levels beyond the approved organizational positions.
Since inquiries were being made by various local levels and schools regarding whether this applies to contract teachers, it is hereby instructed that this clause does not apply to teachers.”
