Madhesh University to Introduce Three New Academic Programs from Current Academic Session
Madhesh University, located in Birgunj, Parsa, is set to introduce three additional academic programs from the current academic session 2083. The new programs are being added following growing student interest in the academic programs currently offered by the university.
New Academic Programs
According to University Registrar Vijay Kumar Yadav, classes in the following three subjects will begin in the current academic session:

Master of Business Administration (MBA) — postgraduate level

Bachelor of Law (LLB) — undergraduate level

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) — undergraduate level
Registrar Yadav stated that the curricula for all three academic programs have already been prepared. A notice will be published soon, and classes will begin within the current academic session.
Programs Currently Offered
The university currently conducts classes in Master of Public Administration (MPA) at the postgraduate level, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (BA LLB) under the Faculty of Law, and Bachelor of Public Management (BPM) under the Faculty of Public Administration at the undergraduate level.
Future Plans and Goals
According to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Deepak Bahadur Shakya, its future plans and goals are as follows:
Madhesh Research and Training Centre
The university plans to establish the province’s first “Madhesh Research and Training Centre” to make teaching and learning more effective and improve quality through research and training.
Medical and Health Programs
The university plans to conduct medical and health-related classes, including medical, laboratory technician, and physiotherapy programs, in the future.
For the time being, preparations are underway for a technical team to conduct a feasibility study on operating Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) classes by using Narayani Hospital in Birgunj and Pokhariya Hospital in Pokhariya as the bases for the program.
Research-Based and Technical Education
To make higher education more research-oriented, the university plans to offer MPhil and PhD programs, along with technical academic programs related to pharmacy, science, and information technology.
Madhesh Skill School
The university plans to establish the province’s first “Madhesh Skill School” to expand access to higher education for people in rural areas of Madhesh Province and produce skilled human resources by connecting education with labour, labour with skills, and skills with prosperity.
Background of the University
The Madhesh University Act, 2079 was enacted by the Madhesh Provincial Assembly on 14 Baisakh 2079, and the university was established on 22 Bhadra 2079.
The university began offering classes in two faculties within the first year of its establishment. It currently operates its office from a rented building belonging to National Trading in Birgunj.
