NAST Completes Preparations to Launch ‘Munal’ Satellite
The Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has completed preparations to launch a satellite named ‘Munal’ developed within the country.
Built under the leadership of higher secondary level students, the satellite is being regarded as a historic achievement in Nepal’s journey of developing space technology.
Prepared over two years at Nepal’s first space systems laboratory, the Munal satellite will be used for vegetation monitoring, testing indigenous technology, and processing artificial intelligence-based data.
NAST Secretary Dr. Rabindra Prasad Dhakal stated that the satellite will be operated from the ground station in Khumaltar, Lalitpur. He informed that the Munal satellite will be launched as a rideshare payload via ISRO’s ‘SLV–Six Two’ rocket at 10:17 AM (Indian time) today, i.e., 10:32 AM as per Nepal time.
According to the information provided by Dhakal, the launch will take place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India.
