Saraswat Ratna Award 2081 Conferred on Writer Jeeva Lamichhane
Chitwan, Narayangadh — Writer Jeeva Lamichhane has been honored with the Saraswat Ratna Award 2081 for the travelogue collection “Akshat Antarctica.” Ratnanagar Literary Academy conferred the honor on Lamichhane on the occasion of its second establishment anniversary.
Academy Chairperson Ram Babu Ghimire and Ratnanagar Municipality Deputy Mayor Yadav Pathak jointly presented the honor to Lamichhane. The award includes NPR 30,000 in cash, a letter of appreciation, and a ceremonial shawl.
On the occasion, in the context of the 142nd Lekhnath Jayanti, a literary critique session was held along with a book release.
Speaking at the program, writer Lamichhane said that the works of poet laureate Lekhnath Paudyal contain “satire, rebellion, concern, and philosophy.”
He also expressed gratitude to the academy for honoring him. He announced that he would add NPR 200,000 to the award amount and deposit it into the endowment fund of the Valmiki Sahitya Sadan.
Similarly, he announced an endowment fund of NPR 50,000 for the Chitwan Literary Council in his mother’s name. He said that this amount would be used to honor women writers.
