President Paudel Extends Greetings on Jitiya Festival 2082

President Ramchandra Paudel has extended best wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity to all Nepali sisters on the auspicious occasion of Jitiya Festival 2082.

About Jitiya Festival

Jitiya is mainly observed by Tharu, Madhesi, and some other communities living in Nepal’s Terai region. Women celebrate the festival by worshipping Lord Jimutavahana, praying for the long life, good health, success, and prosperity of their children and family.

On the Ashtami tithi of Ashwin Krishna Paksha, women observe a strict fast, purify body, mind, and soul, and prepare and share pure traditional delicacies — a custom followed since ancient times.

President’s Message

In his message, President Paudel stated that Nepal, characterized by multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural diversity, is enriched by such indigenous festivals that serve as guiding lights for human life and the future.

He expressed that Jitiya Festival strengthens mutual respect, social harmony, family unity, love, reverence for women, and devotion, while helping preserve Nepal’s unique culture and encouraging a spirit of tolerance.

President Paudel wished that this festival brings happiness, peace, and prosperity to everyone and fosters unity and harmony in society.
