The government has decided to open inter-district and long-distance transport and domestic flights. The cabinet meeting held on Monday has decided to open short, medium, and long-distance transport and domestic flights, which were closed from March 22, 2020.

The government had launched a nationwide crackdown from March 24 after the coronavirus (Covid-19) was found in Kathmandu. After that, even though the lockdown was open in July, medium and long-distance public transport was not operating. Even after the lockdown was opened, the local government and the district administration office had issued a restraining order. Due to which public transport was stuck in the garage.

Even the transport businessmen have been incurring losses due to not being able to operate vehicles for about six months; they said that they would operate the vehicles even if permission was not given from September 17.

Entrepreneurs had been saying that the investment in the banking and financial sector was more than 70 percent. Even the dependent workers had put pressure on the government to stop starvation rather than disease. Chairman of the Independent Transport Workers' Union Bhim Jwala Rai has been saying that the condition of transport workers has become critical. It is said that more than 2 million people are dependent on 300,000 passenger vehicles.
