Rudra Gauri Shree Ambika Oli Foundation Announces National Awards
Jhapa — Rudra Gauri Shree Ambika Oli Foundation, Bhadrapur–7, Jhapa, has announced the national awards to be presented for BS 2082 (2025).
The foundation said in a press statement that this year’s “Shri Prasad Oli Memorial National/International Pragyan Award” will be jointly presented to educationist Prof. Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma and the National Innovation Center. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 500,000.
The awards will be distributed at a special ceremony to be held on Jestha 30, 2083 BS, at the Nepal Tourism Board in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
Prof. Dr. Sharma has contributed for more than five decades to the development of higher education in Nepal, as well as technical education and vocational education. He is the founding Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University.
Similarly, the National Innovation Center, established under the leadership of Dr. Mahabir Pun, is being jointly presented the same award for its role in the country’s economic development and employment generation through technology, research, and innovation.
Likewise, the “Rudra Prasad Oli Memorial National Agriculture Award,” carrying a cash prize of Rs. 101,111, will be jointly presented to Agro Manang Pvt. Ltd. and senior horticulture expert Chutraj Gurung.
According to the foundation, Agro Manang is being honored for starting high-density apple farming with modern technology over a large area for the first time in the remote region of Manang, contributing to increased production, employment generation, and import substitution.
Senior horticulture expert Gurung is being presented the award for his contribution to the agriculture sector through research in horticulture, expansion of apple farming in the Himalayan region, and practical training provided to more than 2,000 farmers and technicians, both during his service with the Government of Nepal and after retirement.
