Steam Club Program in 25 Community Schools Under Kathmandu Metropolitan City:

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is going to run a steam club program in 25 community schools within the metropolitan area. The program has been started with the objective of developing science and technology learning in students, providing a platform to develop and use personal interests, and promoting innovative learning.

The corporation has signed an agreement to run the first phase program for the promotion and development of science, technology, engineering, humanities, and mathematics education in 25 selected schools within the metropolitan area.
The corporation has given one lakh grant to each of the selected schools. Addressing the gathering after signing the agreement and handing over the checks, KMC chief Vidya Sundar Shakya urged the school principals to implement the program with new ideas.

The corporation has brought this program with new thinking. Stating that the state has invested heavily in community schools, he stressed the need to produce better students than private ones by imparting accessible and quality education as per the state policy.

Shakya said that school education is now under the control of the local government and the metropolis is ready to make the necessary investments.

Saroj Basnet, the vice-chairman of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Urban Planning Commission, said that the corporation has brought a new program and urged all the principals to make it a success. "We have selected 25 schools in the first phase. Among them, Shivpuri Secondary School has been selected as the hub school, ”said Basnet.

According to Dilliram Bastola, head of the secretariat of the Urban Planning Commission, Shivpuri Secondary School, Banswasi Secondary School, Dhumrabarah Secondary School, Tangal Secondary School, Janakalyan Secondary School, Mitra Aadharbhut Vidyalaya, Shram Rastriya Madhyamik Vidyalaya, and other schools have been selected in the first phase.

According to him, an innovation club will be formed in the schools selected for the program with the participation of 15 to 20 students from class-9. This program should be implemented from the date of the agreement with the school concerned and completed by mid-July 2078 BS.
