Tribhuvan Secondary School Baglung School to Launch Skill-Based Technical Training
Baglung — Tribhuvan Secondary School, located in Kharwang, Ward No. 2 of Badigad Rural Municipality in western Baglung, is preparing to launch skill development and self-employment-oriented technical education.
Stating that academic certificates alone are not sufficient for students, the school has planned to run technical education in both formal and informal streams.
From the current academic session, the school has started operating training programs lasting three months or more with the goal of making students self-reliant. According to Headteacher Dhalmani Bhandari, if secondary-level students can be connected to informal technical education, they can more easily become self-employed.
Focus on Short-Term Skill Training
Tribhuvan Secondary School is a listed school under the government’s “One Constituency, One Technical School” program.
As the government has not yet arranged a budget for a polytechnic school, formal classes cannot be started immediately. However, Headteacher Bhandari said the school is preparing to run short-term skill-based training in areas such as automobiles, electrical, and electronics.
In the long term, the school is preparing to coordinate with the Ministry of Education to begin formal education in needed subjects, including civil engineering.
Fundraising and Long-Term Plan
To support the operation of multi-technical education, the school raised around Rs. 30 million through a Mahayagya held last Mangsir.
School Management Committee Chair Bishnu Bhusal said that short-term training programs will be started immediately with the same amount, and long-term technical teaching will be operated once linked with government resources.
The committee is also preparing to work in collaboration with CTEVT and other agencies to develop the school into a center for producing skilled technical manpower.
According to Chair Bhusal, the target is to increase the amount raised through the Mahayagya and establish an endowment fund of Rs. 50 million, through which the multi-technical program will be run.
Previous Investment in Infrastructure and Programs
Earlier, the school had built its physical infrastructure using Rs. 8 million raised from a Diamond Jubilee celebration held nine years ago.
Through the endowment fund created from that amount, the school had hired privately funded teachers and started English-medium teaching, a computer lab, and crop science classes.
A Wider Educational Destination
The school aims to become an attractive educational destination not only for Badigad Rural Municipality but also for students from Galkot, Dhorpatan, Nisi, Taman Khola, and even the Musikot area of neighboring Gulmi district.
In recent times, with improvements in academic quality, the children of local elected representatives, teachers, and staff have also started studying at the same school.
