Waling Municipality to Reopen Schools from 2083 Baisakh 10

Waling (Syangja) — Waling Municipality in Syangja has decided to reopen schools from 2083 Baisakh 10. Although the federal government decided that schools would operate from 2083 Baisakh 21, Waling made an earlier decision considering local conditions. The municipality has also revised school hours so that classes will begin at 9:00 AM.

The Municipal Education Committee meeting held on Tuesday, 2083 Baisakh 8, finalized the date and timing for school operations. Under the new arrangement, schools within the municipality will now operate from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It was also decided that schools will observe two weekly holidays, Saturday and Sunday.

Mayor Krishna Khand said that, in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal and prevailing laws, local levels have authority over the management of basic and secondary education, and that the decision was made to move ahead with regular classes. He said, “Although the government decided to operate schools from Baisakh 21, local conditions are different, so we decided to operate schools earlier.”

Other local levels in the district are also set to reopen schools from different dates. Accordingly, schools in Phedikhola Rural Municipality will reopen from Wednesday, and those in Chapakot Municipality from 2083 Baisakh 12. Meanwhile, institutional (private) schools in the district have already started regular classes from Monday.
