Tribhuvan University Concluded 46th Graduation Ceremony:

Tribhuvan University has concluded its 46th graduation ceremony on Monday by presenting only students who have achieved doctoral and thematic excellence due to coronavirus. On the occasion, 56 thousand 713 students including doctoral, MPhil, postgraduate, and undergraduate students who have been included in the grace list with the transcript from 1st Ashad 2076 to 31st Jestha 2077 have been initiated. Only students with doctoral and thematic excellence were invited to the formal program.

Speaking on the occasion through a video clip, Tribhuvan University Chancellor and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli urged the graduates to be involved in the welfare of the state. Praising the leading role played by Tribhuvan University in higher education, he said that it should play a leading role in the transformation of the country by building technically skilled manpower.

The chief guest of the program, former president Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, said that no one should be deprived of the opportunity of education and added that education should not be limited to a few individuals or classes. Talking about the dire need for home-based education in the country, he stressed the need for the state to increase investment in education. He said that commercialization, privatization, and party influence have increased in education and there is a lack of political thinking and commitment to implement the right policy. He said that education that would make a significant contribution to the development of the country and be competitive in the world market is needed now.

University Vice-Chancellor Prada Dharmakanta Banskota said that not everyone could attend the graduation ceremony due to the coronavirus. He said that the university bears the important and challenging responsibility of imparting higher education amidst a lack of infrastructure, dilapidated physical infrastructure, and limited resources.

He said that the manpower produced by TU has made the university proud by displaying knowledge, skills, and competencies not only at home but also internationally. He said that the budget for research has been increased, infrastructure has been given priority by adopting information technology, textbooks in the central library have been electrified and made available to teachers and students, and significant achievements have been achieved in competition with the best universities in the world.

Only the students who have succeeded in bringing excellent doctoral and thematic marks to the university on Monday have received the degree. Now, arrangements have been made to distribute certificates to the remaining students from the Examination Control Office, Balkhu on Tuesday. Controller of Examinations Pushparaj Joshi informed that 35 certificate distribution counters have been set up for the purpose. Students who do not get the degree certificate from the counter have to get it from the certificate field.
