Tribhuvan University Gives 15-Day Ultimatum to Teachers and Employees Who Did Not Return After Study Leave
Tribhuvan University (TU) has directed teachers and employees who did not return to university service after completing their studies on study leave to contact the university within 15 days.
The Study Leave Management Implementation Committee, Kirtipur, issued an extremely urgent notice dated 2083.03.03, giving a strict warning to teachers and employees who, after using study leave, did not return to service as per university rules and those who left service without completing the prescribed period. According to the notice, those who had previously been notified to come into contact but have not done so to date have been given this final opportunity.
The committee has requested them to contact its office or send an email to studyleave@tu.edu.np within 15 (fifteen) days from the date of publication of the notice. The notice clearly states that if they do not come into contact within the stipulated deadline, the process of legal action will be taken forward as per the deed of commitment made with the university and the rules.
With the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Sports and the active involvement of TU, significant progress has been made so far in this recovery and action process. According to TU, more than Rs. 118.4 million has already been recovered from 50 professors who took study leave but did not return to service.
According to the university, study leave is a special facility provided with the objective of making skilled, research-oriented and international-level academic human resources available. However, TU says that some professors misused this leave by not returning to service even after completing their studies, causing financial, educational and academic loss to the university.
TU has reminded professors and employees who use leave facilities that they must mandatorily fulfill their service obligations as per the agreement. The university has stated that the process of recovering the remaining amount from those who do not fulfill their obligations will continue.
