TU Recovers Rs 16.5 Crore from Teachers and Staff Who Did Not Return After Study Leave
Tribhuvan University (TU) has recovered approximately Rs. 16.5 crore from teachers and employees who took study leave but did not return to service as required by university rules.
According to the Personnel Administration Division under the Office of the Registrar, the university has so far recovered the amount from 75 cases.
The university said the recovery covers teachers and employees who failed to return to service after completing their study leave, as well as those who returned but did not complete the required period of service.
The amount being recovered includes salaries, allowances, and other benefits received from the university during the study-leave period, together with the applicable penalty prescribed under university rules.
Additional Rs. 21.5 Crore Under Calculation and Recovery Process
Tribhuvan University said it is continuing to calculate amounts due from additional individuals and trace their records.
According to the available details, cases calculated so far involve approximately Rs. 21.5 crore.
The university is reviewing the individual records of teachers and employees who have come into contact and is continuing the process of recovering the amounts they are required to repay.
Asked to Contact Registrar's Office by End of Poush
TU has asked teachers and employees who took study leave but did not return to service according to the rules, or who returned but failed to complete the required service period, to contact the Office of the Registrar by the end of Poush.
The concerned individuals may also contact the university by email at studyleave@tu.edu.np.
The university has warned that if they fail to make contact within the specified period, legal proceedings will be initiated in accordance with the undertaking signed with the university and the prevailing rules.
