Government Moves Ahead With Vice-Chancellor Appointment Process in Six Health Science Academies
The government has moved ahead with the appointment process for vacant vice-chancellor posts in six different health science academies (KAHS, NAMS, PAHS, PoAHS, RAHS, and BPKIHS). The Selection and Recommendation Committee formed to recommend names for the vacant posts called for applications on Monday.
The committee said it has started the vice-chancellor appointment process for Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, National Academy of Medical Sciences, Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, Rapti Academy of Health Sciences, and BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. These academies are under the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene.
According to the committee, applications have been invited in line with the “Integrated Procedure Related to the Selection and Recommendation of Vice-Chancellors of Health Science Academies, 2083.” The procedure was approved on Baisakh 31, 2083 BS.
The ministry said interested and qualified individuals may apply within 10 days from the date the notice was first published. Applicants must submit the required documents through the link available on the ministry’s website.
As per the procedure, the minimum qualification for appointment as vice-chancellor is at least a postgraduate degree in any subject of medical science from a recognized university or educational institution.
Similarly, applicants must have at least 10 years of experience in a health science academy, university, or teaching hospital. A person who has served as a professor or worked in the 11th level or above of the health service, along with at least 10 years of teaching experience, may also apply.
The candidate must have served as the head of a leadership office in an academic institution and demonstrated managerial skill, capacity, and competence. The committee has also clarified that the candidate must not be a member of a political party or hold any party-related responsibility.
Applicants must have published at least two scientific research articles as the first author and at least four as a co-author in recognized journals.
Along with the application, applicants must submit a 5,000-word vision paper and strategic action plan related to the concerned academy. The committee has set a total of 100 marks under seven different headings for selecting the vice-chancellor.
