MGSS and GJSS Scholarships Nepal 2025–26: Online Application

The Embassy of India, Kathmandu, invites online applications from Nepali students studying in Nepal for the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme (MGSS) and the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme (GJSS).

Submission Cut-off: 02.11.2025, 23:59 hrs (2082 Kartik 16, 11:59 pm)

Portal Closure: 03.11.2025, 00:00 hrs (2082 Kartik 17, midnight)

MGSS for Class 11 (2025–26)

Eligibility

  • Must be a regular student of Class 11 at any government-recognized educational institution in Nepal (Diploma is not eligible).

  • Required Upload: A certificate issued by the Principal/Head of Institution confirming Class 11 enrollment and confirming that no scholarship is being received from any other source.

  • Must have secured at least 60% aggregate in Class 10.
    Required Upload: Class 10 marksheet.

  • Must be a Nepali citizen.
    Required Upload: Citizenship certificates of the applicant and both parents (mother and father).

  • For applicants with disabilities:
    Required Upload: Disability certificate issued by the Government of Nepal (Local/District Administration Office, etc.).

  • Family Annual Income: Less than NPR 200,000.
    Required Upload: Recent income certificate issued by the Government of Nepal (Local/District Administration Office, etc.).

Scholarship Amount and Duration

  • Selected applicants will receive NPR 24,000/- per year for two years (Classes 11 and 12).

  • Continuation in Class 12 is subject to the submission of:

    • Copy: Class 11 marksheet.

    • Certificate: Issued by the Principal/Head of Institution certifying the percentage obtained in Class 11 and confirming promotion to, and continued study in, Class 12.

GJSS for Bachelor’s Courses (2025–26)

Eligibility

  • Must be a regular student enrolled in the first year of a Bachelor’s program at any government-recognized educational institution in Nepal (Diploma is not eligible).

  • Required Upload: A certificate issued by the Principal/Head of Institution confirming first-year enrollment and confirming that no scholarship is being received from any other source.

  • Must have secured at least 70% aggregate in Class 12 (excluding Class 11 marks).
    Required Upload: Class 12 marksheet.

  • Age Limit: As of 2082 Ashadh 17, age must be between 17 and 22 years.

Scholarship Amount and Duration

  • Course: MBBS/BDS
    Annual Scholarship Amount (NPR): 48,000/-
    Duration (Years): 5

  • Course: B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./BAMS
    Annual Scholarship Amount (NPR): 48,000/-
    Duration (Years): 4

  • Course: Other Courses
    Annual Scholarship Amount (NPR): 36,000/-
    Duration (Years): 3

Continuation Requirements (Second Year and Beyond)

  • Copy: Annual marksheet(s) for each year.

  • Certificate: Issued by the Principal/Head of Institution confirming promotion to the next year/semester and stating the percentage obtained in the previous year (for semester systems, the aggregate percentage).

Submission of Annual Documents and Disbursal

  • Scholarship recipients must submit the above documents by December 31 each year via email to attacheedu.kathmandu@mea.gov.in.

  • Further installments will be deposited in the bank account opened by the Embassy in the student’s name only after receipt of required documents.

  • If documents are not received within the stipulated time, the scholarship will be cancelled.

Important Notes

  1. Applicants receiving scholarships from any other source are not eligible for these schemes.

  2. While submitting the application through the portal, applicants must clearly mention name, address, email ID, contact number, marks, etc. To avoid rejection, upload clear/readable documents and a recent passport-size photograph.

  3. The Embassy will send all scholarship-related information and notices (e.g., authentication of original documents, information about selection of candidates, opening of bank accounts for scholarship deposits, guidelines, reminders, etc.) only to the registered email. Applicants must keep their email address and password secure for future correspondence.

  4. The online application form will not be re-opened. Applicants are advised to read all information/instructions carefully before filling the form. After receiving the Acknowledgement Receipt, ensure that the form has been successfully submitted.

  5. Any documents sent after the application submission date via email or post will not be accepted.

  6. Applicants are advised to interact/communicate only with the Education Wing of the Embassy of India, Kathmandu.

  7. MGSS: Those who do not pass Class 11 will not be eligible for the scholarship from that year. GJSS: Those who do not pass the first year and subsequent years (both semesters) will not be eligible from that year.

  8. The Embassy of India reserves the right to accept or reject applications and to continue or discontinue the scholarship.

Important Information

The Embassy of India accepts only applications submitted directly by applicants. Applications submitted through any educational consultants, intermediaries, or agencies in Nepal are not recognized. Students are requested to remain vigilant against such unauthorized entities or individuals. Applications submitted through such entities or individuals may be rejected.
