Overview
Result Publication, Recommendation and Appointment Process of PPSC Gandaki Province
Result publication, recommendation, and appointment process: the final stage of the public service journey.
The core goal of the entire process of the Gandaki Province Public Service Commission (Gandaki Pradesh Lok Sewa Aayog) is to select eligible and capable candidates and place them within the province’s administrative structure. After written examinations, practical tests, and interviews are completed, the phase of result publication and recommendation begins. This stage is highly sensitive and technical.
This section provides detailed information on how results are prepared, what the recommendation is based on, and how the appointment is carried out.

-
Result Publication Channels: Official website (ppsc.gandaki.gov.np) and the notice board.

-

Result Publication Process
The Gandaki Province Public Service Commission places strong emphasis on transparency and accuracy when publishing results. Written exam results are prepared in two parts.
The result of the first-stage objective exam is processed immediately by scanning through an OMR machine, with no human intervention.
When preparing the result of the second-stage subjective exam, the Commission applies a coding and double-coding system. Under this system, a candidate’s roll number is converted into a confidential code. This ensures that subject experts evaluating the answer scripts do not know whose paper they are checking. As a result, there is no possibility of favoritism or bias.
When making written exam results public, the names and roll numbers of successful candidates are published in alphabetical order. This means the marks scored in the written exam are kept confidential at that stage so that interview board members do not become biased.
Along with the list of candidates who passed the written exam, the result notice also includes the date, time, and venue details of the next stages such as interview, practical examination, and group discussion. Candidates can download the result notice as a PDF file from the Commission’s website.
If a candidate has doubts about the written exam result, they can apply for retotalling within the specified days after result publication. The Commission rechecks such applications and corrects any technical errors if found.
Only after all stages of written exams and interviews are completed does the Commission make public a candidate’s total obtained marks. This process plays a major role in building trust in the system and ensuring fairness.
How to Check Result
How to check results?
After the Gandaki Province Public Service Commission publishes results of different exam stages, candidates should check results only through official channels. To make result checking simple and error-free, the Commission has organized its online system. Candidates can follow the steps below to view their results.
Step 1: Visit the Official Website
First, open an internet browser and type the Commission’s official website: ppsc.gandaki.gov.np. Do not rely on links from unauthorized websites or social media for results.
Step 2: Select Result Menu
After the homepage opens, you will see the option “Results” in the top menu bar. Click it to open a drop-down menu. It includes sub-sections such as “Written Exam Results,” “Interview/Recommendation,” and “Other Results.”
Select the option based on the stage of the exam you attended.
Step 3: Identify the Relevant Vacancy and Post
There may be multiple advertisements in the result list. You should identify the correct result title based on your advertisement number, service, group, and post.
Open the result file only after ensuring the advertisement number and post name match your details.
Step 4: Download PDF and Search Your Roll Number
Results are usually uploaded in PDF format. Download the file and open it on your mobile or computer.
To quickly find your name or roll number in a long list:
-
On a computer, press Ctrl + F and type your roll number.
-
On a mobile device, tap the Search icon and enter your roll number.
Step 5: Verify Name and Details
If you are successful, your roll number and name (in the case of final results) will appear in the list.
Verify that your name and the name of your father or grandfather are correct. If it is a written exam result, the notice usually includes the date and time of the next stage (practical test or interview) at the end of the same notice. Note those details carefully.
Alternative Channels
Candidates can also check results through these channels:
-
Notice board at the Commission office, Mustang Chowk, Pokhara.
-
Important results may be published in Gorkhapatra or province-level daily newspapers.
-
The Commission’s official Facebook page, only if it is linked from the website.
Precautions
Pay special attention to the advertisement number and roll number while checking results. Sometimes multiple candidates may have the same name, so the roll number should be treated as the final reference.
If the PDF file does not download properly, check your internet connection or clear the browser cache and try again.
In all cases, you do not need to pay any fee to view results. Results are available completely free of cost.
Final Merit List and Recommendation
After interviews and all other examinations are completed, the Commission prepares the final merit list. While preparing this merit list, the Commission calculates the total sum of marks obtained in the written exam, practical exam, and interview. The candidate with the highest total score is placed at the top.
For seats allocated to inclusive groups (women, indigenous nationalities, Dalit, and others), the merit order is determined through competition among candidates within the same group.
After the Commission meeting approves the final result, the names of successful candidates are recommended for appointment. During recommendation, the Commission also publishes an alternative (waiting) list and a contract list.
If a candidate whose name appears on the main list refuses appointment or does not join service, the alternative list candidates are given appointment opportunities based on priority.
The recommendation notice clearly includes the candidate’s name, father’s name, grandfather’s name, and permanent address.
Details of recommended candidates are sent through an official letter to the concerned ministry or the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers. Based on this letter, candidates receive a recommendation letter. This letter functions as the official ticket for entry into government service.
At this stage, the Commission’s role is limited to selecting and recommending candidates. After recommendation, posting candidates to the office they chose or to a vacant office according to merit order becomes the responsibility of the provincial government’s administrative authority.
Appointment and Posting
After recommendation from the Commission, the appointment process begins. A recommended candidate must contact the concerned authority within the prescribed time to receive the appointment letter.
Before issuing the appointment letter, for some specific posts, there may be a health check and re-verification of the character certificate. The appointment letter includes the post, category, salary scale, and service conditions that the candidate must follow. After receiving the appointment letter, the candidate must take the oath of office and confidentiality.
Posting is generally based on the candidate’s merit position and the available vacancy location. As per the Gandaki Province civil service regulations, candidates may be posted to different ministries, directorates, or local levels, typically considering proximity to permanent address or as per the work plan.
After posting, the employee must report to the designated office and assume responsibilities. There is a provision that once the office chief records the employee’s attendance, the concerned ministry and the Commission must be informed.
Newly appointed employees are included in in-service training or an orientation program. In this training, employees learn the government accounting system, administrative rules, file management, and service delivery methods according to the citizen charter.
In this way, the long struggle that begins with reading a vacancy notice transforms a candidate into a successful public servant through appointment and posting. This entire process helps strengthen Gandaki Province’s public administration by making it capable, accountable, and professional.
