The CTEVT curriculum title is Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (CMLT). The program follows a three-year yearly system and prepares middle-level laboratory personnel with knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes related to medical laboratory work. The curriculum covers laboratory services connected with diagnosis, prevention, treatment support, and community health needs.
Students in this program study how laboratory samples are collected, processed, tested, and reported within the scope of medical laboratory technology. The curriculum includes work related to body fluids, tissues, and other clinical materials. It also covers laboratory procedures and instrument maintenance used in healthcare service settings.
The three-year structure moves from foundational science to applied laboratory practice. The first year focuses on basic science and foundational subjects. The second year covers theory and practical components of core medical laboratory subjects. The third year emphasizes applied learning in hospitals and medical laboratories.

Applicants under the letter grading system need SEE or an equivalent entrance-level qualification with compulsory English, Mathematics, and Science, with a minimum GPA of 2.0. The college course details also include at least C grade in English, Mathematics, and Science.
The CTEVT CMLT entry route also includes TSLC in Medical Laboratory Technology with a minimum of 68.33 percent. Applicants must pass the entrance examination administered by CTEVT.
For examinations conducted before the letter grading system, applicants may qualify through SLC or an equivalent examination with compulsory Mathematics, English, and Science in at least second division, or 45 percent marks in total, or through SLC plus relevant Technical SLC with 68.33 percent marks.
The program uses internal assessment and final examination for theory and practical components. Students need to complete the internal assessment requirements before appearing in the final examination. The pass marks are 40 percent in theory and 50 percent in practical.
Students who pass all components of all subjects across the three years are awarded the Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology. Graduates are eligible for the position equivalent to non-gazette 1st class/Level 5 technical level as prescribed by the Public Service Commission of Nepal and other related agencies. They are also eligible for registration with the related health professional council as provisioned in the related Council Act.
After completing the course, students must pass the licensing examination from the respective council and obtain a license certificate before professional practice.
