The Veterinary JTA program at Karneshwor Secondary School in Sunaul Bazar, Nilkantha Municipality-7, Dhading, is an 18-month technical course approved by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). It is designed to prepare skilled veterinary assistants capable of supporting animal health services in rural and semi-urban communities.
The program offers practical livestock care and animal husbandry training. It has an annual intake of 40 students and four scholarship seats.
This program follows the CTEVT-prescribed curriculum, which includes theoretical and practical modules. Core subjects include animal anatomy and physiology, disease identification, livestock management, veterinary first aid, animal nutrition, and field-based practice. Training also covers poultry, cattle, goat, and pig care.

Graduates of the program will be able to:
Diagnose common livestock diseases
Provide routine veterinary care and vaccinations
Assist in basic surgical procedures
Advise farmers on animal nutrition and preventive care
Maintain animal health records and treatment logs
Livestock housing and sanitation
Deworming and vaccination techniques
Artificial insemination (introductory level)
Disease diagnosis using observation and basic tools
First aid and post-treatment care
Classes are structured to emphasize practical experience. Students participate in hands-on training in veterinary labs, on-campus farms, and nearby animal shelters. Faculty guide students through case-based learning and on-site field visits to ensure applied learning.
Minimum requirement: SEE passed
Applicants must pass the CTEVT entrance examination
Selection is based on merit and CTEVT’s quota system
Fees follow the official CTEVT fee structure
After completion, students can work as:
Veterinary assistants in animal health clinics
Field staff in livestock development projects
Support personnel in quarantine or breeding centers
Independent animal health workers in local communities
The school provides 4 scholarship seats, prioritizing students from underrepresented and financially challenged backgrounds. Scholarships are awarded following CTEVT’s admission criteria.
