The PCL in General Medicine program at Mangalsen Polytechnic Institute (MPI), Achham, is a three-year diploma-level course affiliated with CTEVT, Nepal. With a total intake of 40 seats per year, the course prepares students to work as Health Assistants (HAs) in various healthcare settings in Nepal. It is ideal for SEE graduates seeking a healthcare career. Admission is strictly based on performance in the CTEVT entrance examination.
The curriculum is structured across six semesters and follows the official guidelines issued by CTEVT. It includes both theoretical and practical learning. Major subjects covered are:
Basic Medical Sciences (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry)
Pharmacology and Microbiology
Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics
Community Health, First Aid, and Emergency Care
Health Education and Communication
Clinical rotations and internship

Promote preventive, curative, and rehabilitative healthcare practices.
Prepare students for immediate entry into the healthcare workforce or further studies in health sciences.
Graduates can work in public hospitals, health posts, NGOs, INGOs, private clinics, and community-based programs. The Health Assistant license enables employment in various government and non-governmental health institutions.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Diagnose and treat common illnesses and injuries.
Carry out minor medical procedures under supervision.
Educate individuals and communities on health promotion.
Record and report patient information accurately.

Minimum academic qualification: SEE (Grade 10) passed
Must pass the entrance exam conducted by CTEVT
Admission is based on the entrance score merit list

10% of total seats (4 out of 40) are reserved for scholarships.
