The One Year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) at Tribhuvan Campus, Tanahun, is affiliated with Purbanchal University. The program is designed for bachelor-level graduates who want professional preparation in teaching and education.
Purbanchal University’s Faculty of Education developed the curriculum to prepare secondary-level teachers and education professionals with knowledge of pedagogy, educational foundations, curriculum, psychology, research, and teaching practice.
The One Year B.Ed. follows a 700-mark structure consisting of 500 marks of professional core courses and 200 marks of specialization courses. The professional core includes Philosophical and Sociological Foundations of Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Evaluation, Research Methods, and either Practice Teaching for prospective teachers or Practicum for prospective administrators.
Purbanchal University’s curriculum also includes specialization study. Students select an eligible specialization according to their academic background. The university syllabus covers areas such as English Education, Nepali Education, Mathematics Education, Health and Physical Education, Population Education, Social Studies Education, Information Technology in Education, Science Education, Business Studies Education, School Supervision and Management, Educational Leadership, and Educational Technology.
Eligibility: Applicants must have passed a bachelor-level examination or an equivalent qualification. Additional academic requirements apply to particular specialization areas. For example, English Education requires a bachelor’s degree with English as a major, Mathematics Education requires a BA or B.Sc. with Mathematics as a major, and Business Studies Education requires BBS or an equivalent qualification.
Duration: The regular-mode program covers one academic year. The curriculum specifies 150 effective teaching days and requires at least 70 percent attendance in each course.
Learning activities include group work, project work, case studies, surveys, paper presentations, seminars, and problem-solving activities. Practice Teaching or Practicum forms an important part of the program, allowing students to apply academic learning in a school or educational setting after preparatory campus-based activities.
