The BBS program follows the TU annual examination system. Final examinations are conducted by the Office of the Controller of Examinations, Tribhuvan University. To appear in the annual examination, students must maintain at least 70 percent attendance in the classes actually held. A student cannot appear in the second-year final examination without first appearing in the first-year final examination.
The program also requires separate passing in theoretical, practical, and project components where applicable. The fourth year includes final project work, with field-based study, report writing, evaluation by internal and external examiners, and viva-voce before final scrutiny. The annual grading divisions are 35 percent for Third Division, 45 percent for Second Division, 60 percent for First Division, and 75 percent for Distinction.
