13th Korean Ambassador International Taekwondo Championship Begins
The 13th Korean Ambassador International Taekwondo Championship has begun under the auspices of the Nepal Taekwondo Association and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal.
The championship was formally inaugurated on Monday at the Nepal Taekwondo Association hall in Satdobato. Former Youth and Sports Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha and Korean Ambassador Park Tae-young jointly lit a ceremonial lamp to open the event.
A total of 1,550 taekwondo athletes from South Asian countries India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan are participating in the competition. The six-day tournament will see contests for 61 gold, 61 silver and 122 bronze medals.
First-Day Results
On the first day, Prem Bahadur Limbu of Nepal Police Club won the gold medal in the men’s under-40 individual poomsae event. Regin Rimal of Tribhuvan Army Club finished second, while Damodar Sharma of Alpha Taekwondo Dojang, Dang took the bronze medal.
In the women’s under-40 individual poomsae, Pratibha Vista of Nepal APF Club secured first place and Sabina Bhattarai of the Army claimed second place.
Similarly, in the boys’ 10–12 years age group individual poomsae, Prakash Shrestha of Chandrama Dojang, Sunsari won the gold medal. Rawal Pandit of Balaju Dojang came second, while Roz Kumar Tamang of Swayambhu Dojang and Suman Tamang of Swastik Dojang received bronze medals.
Sports
