ANFA to Hold National and A Division Leagues This Year

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has decided to organize the National League this year and to stage the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League one month after its completion. An emergency meeting held on Monday at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato took the decision to conduct the top-division league a month after the National League concludes.

The National League is scheduled to begin from 25 Poush. The Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League was last held in Jestha 2079.

According to General Secretary Kiran Rai, all interested ‘A’ Division clubs have been given an open opportunity to register their teams for the National League. He also informed that a decision has been made to call for bids for marketing, ticketing, broadcasting and digital rights of the National League for the coming one year and of the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League for the coming five years.

Along with Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League champions Church Boys United, Machhindra Football Club, Nepal Police Club, Jawalakhel Youth Club, Satdobato Youth Club and New Road Team (NRT) will participate in the National League.

From the President League held in Hetauda, the top four teams – Nawa Jagriti Club, Chitlang Football Club, Kankre Bihari Youth Club and Laligurans Association Club – will also present their challenge in the National League.

According to General Secretary Rai, it has also been decided to organize the SAFF Women U–19 Championship in Pokhara in the month of Fagun and to hold a women’s franchise competition. Likewise, a decision has been taken to conduct a national women’s knockout tournament in Udayapur district and, for the Martyr’s Memorial National Women’s League, to coordinate with Jhapa, Morang, Makwanpur and Sunsari districts to fix the venues.

Under the FIFA programme, new artificial turf grounds will be constructed in Dhulikhel and Dhangadhi, and the artificial turf at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato will be replaced. Under the FC Equal Pitch Programme, a decision has been made to submit a proposal to install a hybrid turf pitch at Dasharath Stadium.
