A four-day training titled “Digital Tourism Promotion and AI Training for Trekking Agency Operator” has started in Nepal with the objective of promoting tourism through digital technology.
Organized by the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Sustainable Tourism Project, the training has begun at a hotel in Kathmandu.
According to TAAN Chief Executive Officer Ram Chandra Sedhai, 30 trekking entrepreneurs and staff responsible for office protocol are participating in the training. They will undertake practical exercises on topics such as online tourism promotion using Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital marketing, content creation, running online campaigns, digital branding, travel information management and customer service automation.
Trainer Suman Baral said that at a time when there is intense competition in the global tourism market, the use of AI will play an important role in taking Nepal’s trekking and tourism sector to a new level.
According to the trainees, this training will make their daily work much easier, and they believe that the use of AI will provide faster and more effective results than traditional styles of promotion.
Trainee Salona Dhungana said that the use of AI will make things much easier in the coming days. She said there is a huge difference in speed between the work she does herself and the work done with the help of AI.
Trainee Rishi Prasad Nepal said that he has been able to learn about other types of Artificial Intelligence (AI) beyond the tools he had been using in his daily work. He said he has gained knowledge about how to promote in today’s digital marketing environment and how to promote his company using AI. He also said that he learned how to send automated replies to customers’ emails in this programme.
Another trainee, Ritika Dhamala, said that in this new era, promotion of a company using old methods is not effective, so she joined this programme. She said that if Nepal’s tourism sector is promoted using AI in the modern age, the number of tourists visiting the country can be increased.
According to the organizers, it is expected that the participants will be able to improve internal work processes, present trekking packages in an attractive way in the international market, and enhance their competitive capacity with the help of AI.
