Nepal English Language Teachers' Association (NELTA) will organize the 30th International Teachers’ Conference in Kathmandu on Magh 16 and 17.
NELTA President Professor Dr. Laxman Gyawali shared details about the conference during a press conference held today.
He also said that, due to the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21, there was uncertainty about whether to hold the conference.
Dr. Gyawali stated that the conference, which is held for three days every year, will be organized for only two days this year due to the political situation.
At the press conference, NELTA Second Vice President Dr. Bhim Gautam said that this time only around 800 teachers and scholars from 15 countries will participate. He added that last year around 1,000 people from 20 countries took part in the conference.
“We organized the program even in this adverse situation because we should not break the tradition of holding NELTA’s Mahakumbh,” Gautam said.
NELTA also stated at the press conference that it is mindful about complying with the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission.
NELTA First Vice President Jairam Khanal said that all programs of the conference are being advanced in coordination with the local administration.
It was also informed at the press conference that, as per the demand of the Gen Z movement, arrangements have been made in NELTA’s 30th edition for more than 20 young people to participate as rapporteurs.
