Second Inter-School Science and IT Exhibition 2082

Mid Valley Secondary School College, Bhaktapur has organised the Second Inter-School Science and Information Technology Exhibition 2082.

The exhibition is being held in the college premises at Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur. According to the college, 93 scientific devices and materials prepared by students from 67 schools within the Kathmandu Valley have been put on display.

Exhibition Schedule and Student Participation

The two-day exhibition is being held on Mangsir 11 and 12. The college has set a target of attracting more than ten thousand student visitors to the exhibition. It has stated that more than four thousand students observed the exhibition on the first day alone.

Exhibits Focused on Science and Technology Innovation

Students from various schools have displayed models and materials such as smart city, water system, water pollution model and smart home. These works have been prepared with the aim of encouraging new inventions in the fields of science and information technology.

Remarks from Guests and Officials

Chief guest Prof. Dr Rameshwor Adhikari said that such programmes help students gain practical knowledge in addition to theoretical learning.

He said, “Programmes of this kind should not remain limited to urban areas only. They also need to be organised in schools and colleges in rural regions. The government should prioritise exhibitions of this kind.

The Ministry of Education should bring special plans in the field of science and technology so that students can gain practical knowledge. Making the future generation competent in science and technology is a need of the present time.”

Head of the Education Section of Suryabinayak Municipality, Ratna Katuwal, said he was encouraged to see young students present devices used in daily life in a different way.

He stated that it is necessary not only for Mid Valley but also for other schools to organise such exhibitions. He also called on students from different schools to participate in exhibitions and enhance their knowledge.

College Perspective, Awards and Future Plans

Director of Mid Valley College, Kamal Aryal, said that the exhibition was organised with the main objective of enhancing students’ creative abilities and strengthening practical education.

Recalling that the exhibition held a year earlier had given positive motivation to students, he said that, as a result, Suryabinayak Municipality is also going to organise an exhibition at the municipality level. According to him, this time the participating students have produced information technology materials that are more innovative than expected.

According to Mid Valley, three schools that produce the best devices and materials will receive awards, and one team that secures the highest number of votes will receive additional recognition. The college has stated that the prizes for the exhibition competition are as follows:

  • First position: Rs 30,000

  • Second position: Rs 20,000

  • Third position: Rs 10,000

The college has stated that it will continue such programmes in the coming days as well, and will further encourage students towards research and innovation.
