The Public Service Commission (Lok Sewa Aayog) has decided to mark its 76th Establishment Day and Diamond Jubilee Year on the upcoming Asar 1 with various programs. The commission said it has been observing the Diamond Jubilee Year through different programs since Asar 1 last year.
A meeting of the subcommittee formed under the coordination of commission member Madhavlal Rai to prepare for the anniversary celebration was held on Monday and made various decisions. Commission member Rai said the meeting decided to give high priority to publicity through the media sector to make the commission’s 76th anniversary successful in a grand manner.
It was also decided to arrange articles, interviews, interactions, and discussion programs on the commission’s working system and other contemporary issues through the National News Agency, Radio Nepal, and Nepal Television.
The meeting stated that arrangements would be made through the Advertisement Board to disseminate slogans related to the commission free of charge under public welfare advertisements. On the occasion, inter-constitutional body quiz competitions, blood donation, and badminton programs will be conducted from various offices of the commission, according to Information Officer Devi Prasad Subedi.
The subcommittee formed under the coordination of commission member Rai includes commission secretary Rameshwar Dangal, joint secretary Purushottam Sharma, Information Technology Director Ramesh Subedi, under-secretary Sushila Paudel Dhakal, under-secretary Deepak Khadka, and Chief Accounts Controller Hira Neupane as members. Under-secretary Devi Prasad Subedi is the member secretary.
Representatives from the Ministry of Information and Communication, Department of Information and Broadcasting, Advertisement Board, Public Broadcasting Service Nepal, National News Agency, and Gorkhapatra are invited members of the subcommittee.
Information Officer Subedi said that, as per the constitutional provision, the commission has been carrying out recruitment for 15 organized institutions and security bodies in addition to the civil service. With the establishment of democracy in BS 2007, the commission was established on Asar 1, BS 2008, with the objective of appointing civil servants through a separate and independent body.
Since its establishment, the commission has been selecting suitable candidates for the civil service. The Constitution of Nepal provides that the written examinations conducted for recruitment to posts in the civil service, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal, and other federal government services shall be conducted by the commission.
