Two-day training on the Certificate of Origin Completed in Birgunj

A two-day training on the certificate of origin has been completed in Birgunj. The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in collaboration with the Customs Department had organized the training in the meeting room of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The training has been organized after the Department of Customs of the Government of Nepal took the initiative to enter the Certificate of Origin online through a single-window system.

The technicians had imparted training on the role of exporters and chambers of commerce in initiating online issuance of certificates of origin to chambers of commerce from now on.

A team of technicians from the customs department and technicians from the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) provided training to the staff of the secretariat of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Earlier, the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry had interacted with Deputy Director-General of the Customs Department Shyam Prasad Bhandari, Director Surya Prasad Sedhai, and Chief Customs Administrator of Birgunj Customs Bishwaprakash Aryal on trade facilitation and issuance of a certificate of online origin.

Speaking on the occasion, Association President Subodh Kumar Gupta said that the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry would play a pioneering role in making the campaign launched by the Customs Department successfully. He said that the two-day training was very convenient for the employees and exporters of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and that training should be organized in this regard in the coming days as well.

The participants believed that this online single window system would make the employees responsible and accountable in order to solve the cost and hassle in the performance of the work and the dissatisfaction of both the government and the service recipients. The speakers were of the view that its importance and usefulness have increased in today's changing times as the service recipients can easily perform their work in less time and at less cost.

The training was conducted by Dhan Bahadur Prajapati, Milap Shrestha, Arun Poudel, Ishwar Kumar Singh, and Arjun Shrestha with the participation of 20 people from Parsa and Bara. The program was facilitated by Manoj Upadhyaya, Chief of Administration of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
