41st Japanese Language Speech Competition Concluded

The All Nepal Japanese Language Speech Contest, organized by the Japanese Language Teachers Association Nepal (JALTAN) for a long time, was organized this year through the 41st Speech Competition Zoom due to the corona epidemic.

With the sponsorship of the Japan Foundation and the support of the Japanese Embassy in Nepal, the competition is organized annually by JALTAN.

Shobha Darlami of JLECC came first, Durga Bhattarai of Bishwo Bhasa Campus - Campus of International Languages ​​came second and Karishma Tamang of JLECC came third in the junior group.

Similarly, Suresh Bhatt of Noriva International, Prabina Shakya of JLECC, and Sushila Thapa Magar of Bishwo Bhasa Campus - Campus of International Languages ​​bagged the first, second, and third places respectively in the senior group.

This year, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Nepalis going to Japan for the first time to study, a special award was arranged by the Japanese Embassy in Nepal and the special award was given to the students who were first in the junior and senior groups.

The special award organized by Japan Foundation New Delhi was given to Durga Saru of AIM Consultancy on behalf of juniors and Rajan Shrestha of Japanese Language & Education Culture Center (JLECC) on behalf of the senior group.

In addition, the first, second, third and all the participants of both groups will be provided with shields, badges, certificates, and prizes arranged by the Japanese Embassy in Nepal, Japan Foundation New Delhi at a suitable time.

The event was attended by Chief Guest Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Kikuta Yutaka, and Special Guest Japan Foundation New Delhi Chief Sato Koji.

Chief Judge Sato Mayuko, Cultural Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Nepal; JICA Nepal Head Okuwo Akimichu; Japan Foundation New Delhi-based Japanese language expert Khanagay Yoko, Isoi Miha, Director of the Japanese Association, and Dr. Jivan Bhattarai, General Secretary of the Japanese University Alumni Association (JUAAN), were the judges. The role of the questioner was played by the former president of JALTAN Rabindra Maharjan.

JALTAN Vice President Sanjay Shrestha delivered the welcome address. At the event, JALTAN President Manish Shrestha gave a vote of thanks and informed about the status of Japanese language in Nepal. Sato Koji, Head of Japan Foundation New Delhi, also spoke on the Japanese language and the current situation.
