Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) CBS Projected 7 Million Household and 30 Million Population in Nepal

The government is planning to conduct a national census in Nepal with a projection of about 7 million households and a population of 30 million. Navin Lal Shrestha, Director General of the Central Statistics Office, said that preparations for the campaign are underway.

Based on the growth rate of the National Census 2068, the current population of Nepal is 30142266.

Preparations for the census were started from the previous fiscal year 2076/77. The target is to be achieved in the current fiscal year. The department will conduct the census by visiting every house from Jestha 25 to Ashad 8, 2078 BS.

During the census, 43,000 enumerators across the country will go door-to-door to collect data. Director-General Shrestha informed that 9,000 supervisory staffs are being deployed for their coordination.

Various committees will be formed from the center to the ward level to facilitate and organize the census work. A steering committee, coordination committee, technical committee, thematic committee, provincial committee, local level committee, and ward level facilitation committee will also be formed.

Three different types of questions will be asked during the census. 25 questions related to household and data will be asked. In the original questionnaire, 55 different questions will be asked. These questions will be filled by the ward office. According to Director General Shrestha, data on sources of revenue collection, state of agricultural produce and non-agricultural production and export, source of income of the ward, condition of economic infrastructure, access to services, and disasters will also be collected in the ward.

For personal queries, details related to houses, land, and are used in agriculture, livestock, financial facilities, access, vocational education and trained persons, details of houses built with government subsidy will also be collected.

Facilities used by households, drinking water, cooking fuel, toilets, TVs, phones, houses and land in the name of the month, details of home industries, relatives living abroad, work is done by family members, reasons for not working will also be investigated.
