Community Schools in Kanchanpur Introduce English Medium to Attract Students
In an effort to increase enrollment and improve the quality of education, community schools in Kanchanpur, Nepal have introduced English medium classes from nursery to class 9. The move comes at a time when private schools have been dominating the student enrollment campaign.
Door-to-Door Campaigns to Increase Enrollment
Community schools across the district have launched door-to-door campaigns to attract students. The chairman of the school management committee, Achyut Kalouni, has informed that Vaijnath Secondary School will now teach in English medium from this academic session till class 9.
Quality Education in Public Schools
Vimala Bhatt, a teacher at Bhrikuti Secondary School, stated that the aim is to provide quality education in public schools as well as private schools. They have also started conducting classes through English medium, even in lower classes, to increase the educational quality of the school.
Free Education and Other Facilities
To encourage student enrollment, community schools are providing free uniforms and bags to the students who join. Furthermore, Mahendranagar Secondary School is planning to provide free education in nursery and class 1 through English medium from the next academic session. The government has also arranged mid-day meals for students till class 8 and offers scholarships and other plans to improve the quality of education.
Increasing Student Enrollment
Navraj Joshi, a teacher at Mahendranagar Secondary School, has stated that the school team has reached out to parents to inform them about the new changes. With the target of adding 500 students, classes will be started in English medium from this academic session. The number of students in public schools has already started to increase after the introduction of English medium classes.
Overall, the introduction of English medium classes in community schools is a positive step toward improving the quality of education in Kanchanpur. With various facilities and plans in place to improve the quality of education, public schools are slowly but surely gaining popularity among parents and students.
