Government to Provide Class 11 and 12 Textbooks of All Subject at Free of Cost

All students studying in classes 11 and 12 in community schools will get free textbooks from this time. As per the program announced by the government, students will get textbooks of all subjects free of cost from the academic session of 2078 BS.

Ghanshyam Aryal, director of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development, said that students studying in both classes would get textbooks on all six subjects free of cost. In 11th and 12th classes, students study six subjects, three compulsory and three electives (Optional).

Aryal, director of the center, informed that a budget has been sent to the local level to provide free textbooks to the students studying in community schools. Now that the local level has disbursed funds based on the number of students studying in community schools, the school will provide free textbooks to students. The government had announced in its budget statement for the coming fiscal year to provide free textbooks to students studying up to class 12.

Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra, which is responsible for publishing government textbooks, has been publishing textbooks on three compulsory subjects including English, Nepali, Social Studies, and Life Skill Education / Mathematics. Textbooks on elective subjects are published by private publications with the permission of the Curriculum Development Center.

This time, the textbook of class 11 is being printed for the compulsory subject and the printing of the class 12 textbook has not started yet, according to the Center. The new curriculum is being implemented in class 12 in the academic session of 2078 BS. Last year, a new curriculum was introduced in class 11.

This time, the National Examination Board has made a schedule to publish the results of Class 10 Secondary Education Examination (SEE) by July 30. Currently, schools have started internal assessments of students. The board has given the schools a deadline to complete the internal assessment by July 8.

Admission to class 11 will be open only after the SEE result. NEB has instructed all the schools to complete the internal assessment of the students currently studying in class 11 within this month. Students who are currently studying in class 11 will be able to study in class 12 from July.
