Government Opens Applications for “National Honour and Award” for Returnee Migrant Entrepreneurs
Kathmandu | Magh 2, 2082 — The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has announced that it will provide a “National Honour and Award” to entrepreneurs who returned from foreign employment and are running enterprises in Nepal. Issuing a notice today (Magh 2), the Ministry has invited applications from eligible and interested Nepali citizens.
The Ministry stated that the award is being introduced to recognize entrepreneurs who have contributed to national production and employment by returning from foreign employment and establishing enterprises in Nepal. To encourage self-employment, applications have been called as per the “National Honour and Award Management Procedure for Returnee Entrepreneurs, 2076.”
Application Process and Deadline
Interested entrepreneurs must download the application form in the prescribed format (as per Schedule 2) from the Ministry’s website and fill it out. The completed form, along with the required documents, must be submitted in a sealed envelope and registered at the Information Technology and Statistics Section of the Ministry.
For entrepreneurs outside Kathmandu or those unable to visit the office, the Ministry has also arranged online submission. Applicants may scan the form and required documents and email them to:

The application must be submitted within 21 days from the date of publication of this notice, i.e., by Magh 22, 2081.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the award, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Must have gone abroad on a work visa and worked for at least 1 year, and then returned to Nepal.

Must have completed at least 1 year of operating a business after returning to Nepal from foreign employment.

Must not have received this type of award from the Ministry of Labour within the last 5 years.
The Ministry has clarified that entrepreneurs who applied in previous years but were not selected can also apply again this time.
Selection Criteria
The notice states that the main basis for selection will include:

Employment generation

Capital investment
-
Use of local resources and technology
In addition, evaluation will consider:

Export of products
-
Fulfilment of social responsibility
-
Use of environment-friendly technology and pollution management

The geographical area where the enterprise is operated
Applicants must submit supporting documents as proof of these criteria along with the application.

Tax clearance certificate for FY 2080/081

Self-declaration that the applicant has not received the award previously
