History of Nepali Media From Print to Digital Era

The Press Council Nepal has released a comprehensive book titled "History of Nepali Media: From Print to Digital Era," which covers all aspects of the media landscape from the past to the present.

The book was launched by Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Raghujipant, during an editor’s dialogue program held in the capital on Friday. The publication highlights the challenges added in every era of journalism, how the media overcame them, its development, and the role it played in major historical events.

Eight writers have contributed content in diverse media formats:

  • Social Media: "Social Platforms and Journalism"

  • Genre-based Journalism: "Development, Practice, and Future"

  • Code of Conduct: "A Roadmap for Ethics in Journalism"

Purpose and Significance of the Publication

Council Chairman Mr. Balkrishna Basnet stated that the book was published to document the historical struggles and future prospects of Nepali journalism. He added that previous publications on media lacked investigative depth, which this book attempts to address by incorporating all forms of journalism with a research-oriented approach.

Editorial Dialogue Program Discussion

The book launch event also featured an editorial dialogue focused on the pressure created by new technologies in journalism and the challenges they pose to current professional practices.
