Innovative No-Book Policy at Gaindakot School Enhances Student Learning Experience

November 16, 2023, Gaindakot, Nawalparasi - A pioneering educational approach has been introduced by Kalika Model Secondary School in Gaindakot municipality of East Nawalparasi, bringing joy and ease to its students. The school has implemented a no-book policy, alleviating the burden of heavy backpacks for young learners.

A Shift from Traditional Learning Methods

Principal Prajanath Kandel of Kalika Model Secondary School explained that students no longer need to carry textbooks to school. This new practice aims to revolutionize the teaching and learning process, making it more student-friendly and less physically demanding.

Implementation of the Book Corner Concept

The school has set up book corners in every classroom, ensuring that necessary textbooks are readily available for students. Assistant Principal Raju Puri noted that this initiative initially targeted students up to class 3, and it has significantly lightened their load. Students now only need to bring basic essentials like a pen to school, with lunch provided on campus.

Positive Feedback from Students

Students have welcomed this change warmly. Hari Sapkota, a class 7 student, expressed how this new system has simplified their school routine. Shyam Thapa, in class 3, shared his relief at not having to carry heavy books daily.

A Growing Trend

According to Principal Kandel, the school started providing this facility from the academic session 2080, observing a notable increase in student happiness and engagement. He highlighted that textbooks are now available in classrooms, simplifying the learning process. This effective method has begun to inspire other schools as well.

Future Plans and Parental Support

Principal Kandel disclosed plans to further refine this approach in the next academic session. Students will have a set of books at home and access to the same materials at school. Parents, including Drarna Ban, have applauded this initiative, expressing relief from the worry of their children carrying heavy bags to school.

Official Endorsement and Educational Impact

Madan Bhakta Adhikari, Mayor of Gandakot Municipality, praised the concept introduced by Kalika Model Secondary School. He believes that this innovative approach will significantly enhance the educational quality in the area, proving to be highly effective for student learning and well-being.
