Janodaya Basic School Gets New Building in Bhojpur
Bhojpur — An 11-room child-friendly school building has been handed over to Shree Janodaya Basic School, located in Shadananda Municipality-2 of Bhojpur. The physical infrastructure, built in partnership with UWS Nepal and with support from the donor agency Tropic Company, was handed over to the school along with a five-room disability-friendly toilet and drinking water taps.
UWS Nepal stated that it has been carrying out educational activities, including school building construction in community schools, with the objective of expanding children’s access to education in remote areas, making teaching and learning easier, and improving the quality of education. Under the same program, the building was constructed and handed over to Janodaya Basic School.
Inaugurating the building, Carlton Connell, Deputy Chief of the donor agency Tropic, said the organization’s objective is to enhance the quality of education in remote areas. He expressed a commitment to continue support and collaboration for the school’s educational improvement for the next five years.
Shadananda Municipality Mayor Surendra Udas said the municipality would provide the necessary support for the management and operation of the school.
Deputy Mayor Pramila Rai said the organization has been working not only for educational development within the municipality but also in the areas of climate change and environmental protection, and urged that such programs be continued.
UWS Nepal Director Abinash Jha informed that 87 school buildings have been constructed and handed over to local levels in five districts: Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung, Tanahun, and Gulmi. According to him, in Bhojpur alone, eight buildings of the same nature have been constructed and educational quality improvement programs are being implemented in 20 schools.
Jha also said that 43 schools that had completed the five-year partnership had already been handed over to local governments and communities.
Shadananda Municipality Mayor Surendra Kumar Udas, Deputy Mayor Pramila Rai, UWS Nepal Director Abinash Jha, and donor company representative Carlton Connell, among others, jointly inaugurated the building.
