Kailali Multiple Campus FSU Opposes Agreement with Chaitanya Academy, Announces Protest
The Free Students’ Union (FSU) has strongly opposed a two-year agreement reached between the administration of Kailali Multiple Campus and Chaitanya Academy in Dhangadhi. The FSU has announced a protest demanding the cancellation of the agreement, alleging that it was signed in a non-transparent manner against the academic and financial interests of students.
On Bhadra 15, the campus and Chaitanya Academy signed an agreement to conduct preparation classes for public service, teacher service, banking, and other competitive examinations. The agreement was signed by Campus Chief Dr. Lokendra Bahadur Bista and Chaitanya Academy Chief Executive Officer Ganesh Prasad Joshi.
Under the agreement, 20 meritorious students of the campus are to receive preparation classes free of charge, while 100 students are to be provided classes at a concessional fee.
However, after the agreement became public, students launched protests, alleging that the commercial interests of a private institution were being linked with the campus’s infrastructure and reputation. As part of the protest, students also removed the campus chief’s chair and placed it in the FSU office.
According to a statement issued by FSU President Santosh Pant and Secretary Om Prakash Basti, the following objections and demands have been raised:

Non-transparent agreement: The agreement was made unilaterally and without transparency, without involving student representatives in a matter directly concerning students.

Financial burden and commercialization: The arrangement provides free or concessional access to only a limited number of students at a campus attended by thousands, while placing a financial burden on the remaining students. The FSU has also alleged that the agreement prioritizes the marketing of a private institution over the campus’s educational services.

Demand for free classes: The agreement with the external private institution should be immediately cancelled, and free, quality preparation classes should be conducted within the campus for all students using the campus’s own resources and facilities.

Paid Internship: Referring to a previous internship program with Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, the FSU said students were treated like office assistants and were not even provided meal expenses. It has demanded that future internship programs be made mandatory “Paid Internships.”
According to FSU Secretary Basti, the union was compelled to launch the protest after the administration failed to address its demands despite repeated requests.
President Pant said the protest would continue until the agreement is cancelled and arrangements are made to provide free and quality preparation classes for all students.
To press for its demands, the FSU has announced a peaceful demonstration and protest program at the campus administration building at 10:00 AM on Bhadra 17. It has called on all students and student organizations to participate in the program.
Despite strong opposition from students to the agreement, the Kailali Multiple Campus administration has not yet made its official position on the matter public.
