Nepal Sanskrit University to Contribute to Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund for Flood Victims
Nepal Sanskrit University will contribute to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to support the rescue and relief of citizens affected by floods, landslides, and other disasters. The university has stated that it will set aside an amount from the Bhadra salaries of its teachers and employees and deposit it into the fund.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhim Prasad Khatiwada expressed grief over the significant loss of life and property caused by the flood in the Bhotekoshi River on Bhadra 10, which affected areas from Rasuwa and Nuwakot through Dhading to Chitwan.
Stating that the university community stands with the affected citizens during this national disaster, he called for the swift search for missing persons, their safe rescue, and immediate relief for affected families.
Vice-Chancellor Khatiwada paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the flood and expressed condolences to the bereaved families. On behalf of the university community, he also expressed respect for the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, health workers, local governments, volunteers, and all citizens engaged in rescue and relief operations.
He said the contribution from salaries was not merely financial assistance but also an expression of compassion, solidarity, and national responsibility toward citizens affected by the disaster.
University Programs Postponed
Considering the disaster situation and following the request of the Government of Nepal, the university has stated that examinations, seminars, assemblies, and other group programs have been postponed as necessary.
Vice-Chancellor Khatiwada said information regarding upcoming programs would be issued in due course after assessing the situation.
He also urged everyone to remain calm, sensitive, and responsible during the disaster, refrain from spreading unverified information and misleading content, and use social media responsibly.
“Nepal Sanskrit University is not only an institution of knowledge and education but also an institution that bears responsibility toward society and the nation,” Vice-Chancellor Khatiwada said. “Today is the time to put our knowledge, values, and human consciousness into practice.”
The university community has also wished for the success of the state’s ongoing rescue efforts.
