Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Links 36,280 to Integrated Digital Attendance System
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has brought 36,280 students, teachers, and staff under an integrated digital attendance system as part of its effort to make schools more technology-friendly.
KMC Education Department Chief Namraj Dhakal said the system now covers community-school students, teachers, Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre facilitators, ayas, and all other categories of staff across 83 schools.

Total enrolled in the system: 36,280 people
The Education Department also said there are around 45,000 students, teachers, and staff in KMC up to Grade 10 in total.
How the System Was Implemented
After Acting Chief Sunita Dangol instructed schools to implement an integrated electronic attendance system on January 26, 2026 [2082 Magh 13], the Education Department and the Information Technology Department began the rollout.
Once schools received capacity-building support for data entry, updates, and report generation, the system data was entered through the schools’ own personnel.
Grants to Be Linked to Attendance Records
The department had decided that starting March 15, 2026 [2082 Chaitra 1], grants and disbursements sent to schools would be based on the data and records enrolled in the attendance system.
In a meeting with community school principals held on February 25–26, 2026 [2082 Falgun 13–14], Dhakal urged schools to immediately complete the remaining e-attendance work, stating that grants could not be sent if the system was not implemented effectively.

Infrastructure Development Update
KMC said an infrastructure survey is underway to support physical infrastructure development in schools.

According to Dhakal:

Phase 1: Infrastructure master plan prepared for 4 schools.

Phase 2: Infrastructure master plan prepared for 11 schools.

Phase 3: Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) are being prepared for 23 schools.
SEE Preparation Classes in 11 Schools
Targeting the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 2082, KMC is running special preparation classes in 11 schools through subject experts and resource teachers:

KMC also said that if other schools submit a written request for special classes, the Education Department will manage the classes.
Useful for students: Secondary education Grade 9 and 10 curriculum
Teacher Post Adjustment Plan
KMC plans to complete teacher post adjustment (darbandi matching) by April 13, 2026 [2082 Chaitra Masant] and manage teachers in schools according to the approved posts from the new academic session beginning in April 2026 [2083 Baisakh].
