Library: Foundation of Study Culture Book Launched
The book “Library: Foundation of Study Culture” by librarian Jujubhai Dangol has been made public.
The book was jointly launched by Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya, founding chairperson of the library Dr. Narayan Khadka, and other dignitaries.
Commitment to Support Kathmandu Valley Public Library
Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya expressed the commitment that the Bagmati Province Government will extend support for the management of the Kathmandu Valley Public Library located at Bhrikutimandap.
He remarked that it is unfortunate that, even in its 22nd year, the library is operating without its own building and with an insufficient operating budget. He stated that, if the library management submits a proposal with clear plans and programs, the provincial government is ready to cooperate.
Concerns About Library Condition
Library Vice-chair and former minister Yangkila Sherpa stated that in other countries libraries are regarded as symbols reflecting the state of the nation and are introduced even to visiting foreign guests as institutions of pride.
She noted that, in contrast, the library established in Nepal by individuals wishing to contribute to society is facing difficulties due to a lack of state support.
