Life Background and Turn to History Writing
Pradhan was born in Okhaldhunga. Although he pursued his studies and professional career in India, he has continued to write not only literature but also historical works.
Focus of the Book “Hamro Sanghutaar Bazaar”
The book, brought to market by Bhundipuran Prakashan, presents several research-based and exploratory topics. It documents the traders and social workers who established Sanghutaar Bazaar and studies their roles.
Along with this, the book explores monasteries, temples, and government offices in and around Sanghutaar, and traces the origin of local festivals and cultural events as part of the area’s heritage. It also explains how, after an iron bridge (falaame sanghu) was built over the Himganga River, the place came to be known as Sanghutaar.
Through these details, the book seeks to present the layered local history of Sanghutaar and its surroundings.
Local Traditions, Culture, and Development Efforts
Pradhan has attempted to examine various aspects of local history related to Sanghutaar. These include local festivals and fairs, literary activities, theatre, and the development efforts carried out there.
He also considers early moves towards industrialization and other initiatives that have shaped the social and economic life of Sanghutaar.
