Lumbini CM Urges Education Beyond Textbooks
2082/10/09 — Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has said that education should not remain limited to textbooks, and must be connected to life, behavior, and values. In a message issued on Friday on the occasion of Basanta Panchami and Saraswati Puja, he stated that only quality education can develop a skilled, responsible, and competitive workforce.
Chief Minister Acharya noted that Basanta Panchami symbolizes knowledge, awareness, wisdom, and good conduct. He said the tradition of children beginning literacy, starting studies, and taking the first step in the journey of learning on this day has deeply established the importance of education and cultural values in society.
Stating that education is a lifelong and continuous process, he expressed the view that it plays an important role in personality development, social awareness, and nation-building. He also emphasized that a shared role of families, schools, communities, educational institutions, and the state is essential for quality and sustainable learning.
According to Chief Minister Acharya, the Lumbini Provincial Government has been implementing policies, plans, and programs by giving high priority to the development of education, expansion of access, and improvement of educational quality. He added that, as the province has already been declared literate, the government is now focused on moving beyond literacy alone and producing human resources capable in skills, responsibility, and competitiveness.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that teachers’ commitment, students’ hard work, parents’ support, and society’s positive role will make a decisive contribution to building an educated, civilized, and prosperous province. He stressed the need for all stakeholders to unite to connect education with practice and to develop ethics, discipline, and human values.
