Academic Expansion at Lumbini Technological University: 400 Students Enrolled in a Short Period
Lumbini Technological University, established in Nepalgunj of Banke, considered a major center of western Nepal, has made notable progress in expanding academic programs, student numbers, and institutional structure within a short period. The university, which has completed its fourth year of establishment and entered its fifth year, currently has 400 students studying there.
According to University Registrar Reg Bahadur Bhandari, preparations are being made to operate nine academic programs from the current academic year. The university, which was formally established after its statute was published in the provincial gazette on Asar 18, 2079 BS, spent its first year preparing laws, regulations, statutes, and directives. After that, from Mangsir 13, 2080 BS, it started academic activities by enrolling 40 students in the BTech in IT and BTech in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence programs. The university has taken the increase in student numbers from 40 to 400 within a short period as an important achievement.
The university is currently operating four academic programs at the bachelor’s level and two academic programs at the master’s level. From the upcoming academic session, preparations have reached the final stage to operate the master’s level programs MTech in Construction Management Engineering, Urban Policy and Construction Management Engineering, and Urban Policy, and the bachelor’s level program BTech in Geomatics.
In addition, the university plans to expand academic programs in areas directly connected with Nepal’s economic transformation, such as forestry, agriculture, and tourism, along with technical education, in the coming days.
The process of managing the required land for the construction of the university’s permanent infrastructure has reached the final stage. Registrar Bhandari informed that the decision of the Lumbini Province Government will be important in this process.
