Study Underway to Operate Agriculture and Engineering Campuses in Madhesh Province: Education Minister Pokharel
Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has said that the ministry is studying the possibility of bringing agriculture and engineering campuses into operation in Madhesh Province. Minister Pokharel, who arrived in Lahan, Siraha, yesterday evening, made the statement this morning while monitoring and inspecting JS Murarka Multiple Campus in Lahan.
Minister Pokharel said that Lahan Campus has adequate physical infrastructure and that agriculture and engineering faculties could be added to the campus by obtaining affiliation from Rajarshi Janak University. He said he would begin taking initiatives toward this from today. Stating that the state of education in Madhesh Province is weak, he said that during his study visit, he is holding interactions with teachers, parents, and students, and that a new Education Act is being introduced to address the problems.
Similarly, Minister Pokharel visited Bastipur Secondary School in Ward No. 14 of Lahan Municipality and said that the school, established in BS 2004, would be equipped with modern science and technology facilities to restore its former reputation. He also said that Hanuman Sharda Secondary School, another old school in the area, would be upgraded through the initiative of Bablu Gupta, a member of the House of Representatives from Siraha Constituency No. 1.
Siraha-1 lawmaker Bablu Gupta said he has been working to fulfill his election promise to upgrade Hanuman Sharda Secondary School (Inarwa) in Bhagwanpur Rural Municipality and Bastipur Secondary School in Lahan-14. He said that, in addition to these two old schools, including the school established in BS 2037, educational improvement programs are also planned later for Sakhuwa Nankarkatti and Laxmipur Patari.
