J.S. Murarka Multiple Campus (JSMMC) is a community-based higher education institution located at Lahan Municipality–10, near Gramin Chowk, Siraha, Madhesh Province, Nepal. Established in 2044 BS, also stated as 1987 AD, the campus was founded through collaborative local efforts to expand access to higher education in Lahan and surrounding areas.

The campus began its academic journey with Humanities at the proficiency certificate level under Tribhuvan University. It later expanded its academic scope to include programs from the +2 level to bachelor’s and master’s levels in Humanities, Education, Management, Science, and computing-related fields.

JSMMC operates as a non-profit community campus. Its development has involved local stakeholders, Lahan Municipality, and contributions associated with late Prameshwor Murarka and Atama Ram Murarka. The campus has separate spaces for teaching and non-teaching activities and a large physical area that supports academic, administrative, extracurricular, and student service functions.

An important institutional milestone came in 2076 BS, when the campus completed the Quality Assurance and Accreditation process of the University Grants Commission and received QAA accreditation. In the same year, it was recognized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as the best community campus of Nepal and received a cash award of two lakh rupees.

Location and Campus Setting

J.S. Murarka Multiple Campus is situated in Lahan Municipality–10 in Siraha district. The campus is near Gramin Chowk and is approximately 2.5 kilometres from the national highway.

The campus occupies a sizeable property in Lahan. Lahan Municipality provided a land plot measuring 15-16-01 bigha as a principal physical asset of the institution. The land accommodates academic buildings, administrative areas, laboratories, sports facilities, student services, and outdoor spaces.

The physical development of JSMMC is closely associated with community participation. Infrastructure received support from Lahan Municipality and contributions associated with late Prameshwor Murarka and Atama Ram Murarka. The campus has separate blocks for teaching and non-teaching activities rather than operating all functions from a single building.

Its physical scale is significant because JSMMC serves students across several academic levels and disciplines. Classrooms, laboratories, library services, administrative sections, seminar space, sports areas, and student support facilities form different parts of the campus.

Establishment and Institutional Development

J.S. Murarka Multiple Campus was established in 2044 BS in response to the need for higher education in Lahan and nearby communities. Its academic services began with Humanities at the proficiency certificate level under Tribhuvan University.

J.S. Murarka Multiple Campus completed the Quality Assurance and Accreditation cycle conducted by the University Grants Commission and received QAA accreditation in 2076 BS.
