Admission selection is based on marks obtained in the entrance examination, which assesses educational aptitude and knowledge related to the applicant's specialization area.
M.Ed. students complete a six-week Teaching Practice toward the end of the fourth semester. The placement is organized through the concerned department or campus according to Faculty of Education requirements.
Students specializing in Educational Planning and Management and Special Needs Education complete a practicum instead of regular teaching practice.
This component allows students to apply their professional and pedagogical learning in an actual educational setting.
Research is a compulsory part of the M.Ed. program. Thesis Writing carries six credit hours and is completed in the fourth semester.
The thesis course has two parts. The first part supports students in academic writing, proposal development, preparation of data collection tools, and planning their research. The second part requires students to conduct research and write the master's thesis under supervision.
Students present their research proposal and later defend the findings before the relevant academic committee and subject expert.
The M.Ed. follows a semester-based assessment system. For taught courses:
internal evaluation carries 40 percent; and
the semester-end examination carries 60 percent.
Teaching Practice/Practicum and Thesis are practical courses evaluated according to the procedures of the Faculty of Education.
The normal duration for completing the program is 24 months, or four semesters. TU also specifies a maximum completion period of five years.
