The Free Students' Union (FSU) of Mahendra Multiple Campus, Nepalgunj, has submitted a 22-point memorandum of demands to Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, seeking improvements in the campus's academic standards, administration, and physical infrastructure.

According to FSU President Keshar Jung Shahi, the memorandum addresses student rights and welfare, educational quality, and the overall development of the campus. One of the union's main demands is the construction of a separate examination building to minimize disruptions to regular classes caused by the frequent conduct of examinations.

Drawing the university's attention to the problems faced by students, the FSU has demanded that the current student union, elected through a democratic process, be allowed to complete its full term. It has also called for necessary curriculum revisions.

The memorandum further demands arrangements for students to complete admission and examination forms online, facilities for paying fees through banks and QR codes, scholarships for poor and financially disadvantaged students, and effective implementation of quality assurance activities on campus.

The union has also called for the immediate appointment of mathematics teachers, citing a longstanding shortage of teaching staff in the subject. Other demands include the appointment of full-time teachers, arrangements for permanent faculty members in technical academic programs, and training sessions and workshops to develop teachers' professional capabilities.

Similarly, the FSU has demanded budget allocations for technology-supported teaching materials, including smart boards, the construction of student hostels, and the building of necessary boundary walls to protect campus land.

The memorandum highlights difficulties students face regarding admissions, examination forms, practical examinations, and access to academic information. To address these issues, the union has demanded the appointment of qualified administrative staff to improve the timely and effective dissemination of information.

It has also called for a simpler and free-of-charge process for correcting students' names and surnames on academic certificates and transcripts. Additional demands include providing on-campus employment opportunities to students based on their skills and assigning Mahendra Multiple Campus responsibility for organizing Tribhuvan University's 52nd Convocation Ceremony, which is to be held in Lumbini Province.

Receiving the memorandum, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Thapa stated that making the campus better and achieving excellence was a shared goal of all stakeholders. He expressed a positive response to the demands raised by the FSU and emphasized that cooperation and support from all concerned parties would be necessary to improve the campus.

Meanwhile, part-time teachers who have been teaching at the campus for many years also submitted a separate memorandum to Vice-Chancellor Thapa.

Dhaniram Thapa, President of the Campus Part-Time Teachers' Unit Committee, said that part-time teachers had been facing difficulties for a long time. He expressed dissatisfaction that their demands remained unaddressed despite their years of teaching service at the campus.
