Make in Nepal Campaign Launched

Make in Nepal Campaign Launched:

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has launched the 'Make in Nepal-Swadeshi' campaign with the aim of advancing on the path of economic prosperity by promoting indigenous products. Inaugurating the campaign and unveiling the logo on Monday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said it was an important step towards moving the country forward as a developed nation.

He said that the campaign should be started by the government from the private sector and the government has taken it as its own campaign. He hopes that this campaign, which has come as a new determination in building a prosperous nation, will play an important role in industrialization, job creation, and import substitution.

He said that the campaign should focus on increasing domestic production, domestic use, brand and quality promotion and making it competitive. "There is more employment in the agricultural sector than in the industrial sector, but there are no industries," he said. He stressed on the need to develop Nepal's industrial sector.

Similarly, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta said that the friendly cooperation between the government and the private sector would help in solving the problems of the industry sector, job creation, skill learning and other facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Satish Kumar More, President of the Confederation, said that the campaign aims to increase domestic production, promote competitiveness of businesses and increase demand for Nepali goods and services. The confederation has started this campaign with the aim of bringing 1000 industries into operation every year and providing employment to 150,000 annually.
