Manisha Dwa to Receive Prestigious Dagar Memorial Award for Contributions in Science and Technology

The Dagar Memorial Foundation Nepal is set to honor Manisha Dwa, a young and dynamic scientist, with the esteemed Dagar Memorial Award this year. The ceremony is slated to be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, in Pokhara, recognizing her remarkable contributions in the domains of science and technology.

Who is Manisha Dwa?

Manisha Dwa hails from Pokhara Bhadrakali and has been actively involved in scientific research since 2013. Currently serving as the Deputy Manager at the Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO), Manisha is not just a scientist but also an educator, social activist, and leader.

Multi-Faceted Contributions

  • Founder and Coordinator of Women's Science Award: Manisha has also initiated a program under NASA to empower women in the field of science.

  • Annapurna Archery Club Member: Proving her versatile interests, Manisha is a member of the archery club and has freelanced as a photojournalist.

  • Astronomy for Social Empowerment: She has undertaken extensive projects in 36 schools across Nepal, in collaboration with Astronomy for Development (OAD), to utilize astronomy for societal betterment.

Manisha completed her 'plus two' in science from Gandaki Boarding School and holds a master's degree in Physics from Prithvi Narayan Campus. She is currently pursuing her PhD in the same field from Tertiary University.
