Biratnagar. Targeting the upcoming academic session, ‘Martyrs Memorial Plus Two’ is set to begin operations at Shantichowk, Tintoliya, Biratnagar–10.
The school, which is being prepared to start operations with an investment of around Rs 7 crore, was inaugurated with a foundation stone laying on February 14, 2082, Saturday.
Principal CM Shrestha said the four-storey building will be completed within the next 3 months.
He said the building will be fully air-conditioned and will include smart classrooms and modern laboratories.
According to Principal Shrestha, preparations are being made to start classes in the faculties of Science, Computer Science, Management, and Hotel Management.
For operating the plus two, there is collective investment from 29 education professionals, including principals of more than 10 reputed institutional schools in Biratnagar.
In recent times, Koshi Province’s capital Biratnagar has been moving toward being established as a regional educational center, alongside rapid private-sector investment in education. Further strengthening this trend, preparation is underway to operate Marts Memorial Plus Two with an investment of around Rs 7 crore.
On Saturday, Marts Memorial Foundation laid the foundation stone to construct a four-storey, state-of-the-art educational building on five and a half khattha of land located south of Nilsadan in Biratnagar-10. The building, which has a target of being completed within 3 months, will be equipped with full air-conditioning, smart classrooms, and modern laboratories. Foundation Principal CM Shrestha said that, considering Biratnagar’s summer heat, full air-conditioning will be installed in all classrooms.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying program, Foundation Principal CM Shrestha said, “We are laying the foundation stone today for the Martus Memorial Plus Two building. Our four-storey building is being built on five and a half khattha of land. Because this is going to be a steel-structure building, we have planned to complete it within 3 months. Our investment in this is around Rs 7 crore. A highly well-equipped building is being constructed. For this Martus Memorial Plus Two, there is involvement of principals from various schools in Biratnagar and outside Biratnagar as well. We have a very hardworking group of young colleagues in the teaching team. We have planned to run this Martus Memorial Plus Two with a team of around 28 to 30 teachers. We have started preparations to complete this building within 3 months and, from the coming session, run plus two Science, Computer Science, Management, and Hotel Management in a highly well-equipped modern building, with air-conditioned classrooms and smart classes.”
From the upcoming academic session, there is a plan to operate Science, Computer Science, Management, and Hotel Management faculties. Infrastructure is being built to accommodate 1000 to 1200 students in the first year. In the long term, the institution has also made public its goal to operate bachelor’s and master’s level programs.
At the program, Pyabson’s former President Sabitri Parajuli said that operating a new educational institution with well-equipped structures is a matter of pride for Biratnagar. She said, “Martus Memorial School—this college existed earlier as well—now they are preparing to open it again by bringing in very energetic manpower. I want to extend many good wishes to them. And because CM sir has been connected with me since 55, he is like a member of my family now. I wish for his progress and the progress of his team.”
Similarly, Pyabson Morang’s former Chairperson Vinodbabu Bhattarai said that Biratnagar is gradually ending the compulsion of having to go to outside cities for study, and expressed the view that an institution operated through quality infrastructure and skilled human resources would make the overall educational environment more competitive and stronger.
Bhattarai said, “My heartfelt greetings to the current operators of this school, including Principal CM Shrestha, and the entire team. I myself established this Martus Memorial School in 2048 and operated it as the founder principal for around 20 years. I still have deep attachment and affection for the school. I extend heartfelt thanks for inviting me here by remembering me during this new renovation, reconstruction, and reorganization process. I sincerely thank CM Shrestha, Vijay Dangi sir, and everyone involved here. Because this is a plant I myself planted, I have immense affection for it. I extend heartfelt good wishes for its growth, progress, and prosperity.”
It has been stated that, for operating the plus two, a group of 29 people—including principals of more than 10 reputed institutional schools in Biratnagar—has made joint investment. It is expected that this will present a new model of collaboration in the local education sector. With rising private-sector investment, modern infrastructure, and expansion across diverse faculties, this project has again reaffirmed indications that Biratnagar is emerging as a regional educational destination.
